(DAF) Flotation fails to achieve the desired float result, what should be done?

1. Some say: Change to sedimentation.


2. Some say: It's a water quality issue, it's difficult for the water to float.


3. Others say: There's a problem with the equipment, requiring hundreds of thousands in investment for rectification.


We contacted a local resident, who replied: The simplest solution is the best.


4. The answer was: Incorrect reagent selection, water will be shipped immediately.


We conducted the experiment, shipped the reagents, and simultaneously flew to the site.


Before arriving, we made a solemn promise:


We will arrive with the reagents, and the problem will be solved. We will not leave until the solution is found.


Upon arrival, we made the following simple rectifications:


1. The polymer reagent preparation tank cannot be used while preparing the reagents; they must be used alternately, with separate preparation and usage.


2. The location of the polymer dosing point needs adjustment; they cannot be added together, as they will react! As shown in Figure 2, due to the special nature of the water quality, the solution needed to be directly applied to the release head.


3. The polymeric agent was adjusted to a special amphoteric linear structure lipophilic polymer that accelerates buoyancy. After the agent was changed, the flotation tank turned from white to black in less than half an hour, with a large amount of sludge floating to the surface, as shown in Figures 5-7. The effluent instantly became clear and transparent. The wastewater treatment plant manager could hardly believe his eyes; the effect was so good, he was truly impressed.


It was also discovered that the moisture content of the sludge pressed by the screw press at the plant was estimated to be around 90%, as shown in Figures 3-4. The remaining lipophilic agent was then used for large-scale testing to ensure the moisture content was reduced to around 83%.


Simplifying complex problems: When wastewater treatment issues come to us, it's usually a matter of chemicals, because chemicals are paramount. Choosing the wrong chemicals renders even the best equipment useless. However, some owners, wastewater treatment plants, and equipment suppliers seem to complicate simple problems, as if only investing hundreds of thousands or millions will be effective. It's truly a case of:


Wrong direction, wasted effort;


Right direction, twice the result with half the effort;


Changing to the right polymer, all problems solved;


Heaven attains clarity through oneness; Earth attains tranquility through oneness; Water attains purity through oneness;


One truth, all truth; One is the chemical; One is the Great Way;


Following the Way brings good fortune; straying from the Way brings misfortune; the medicine cures the disease.
