PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

The denitrification deep bed filter organically combines denitrification with deep bed filtration, and is a treatment unit that integrates biological denitrification and filtration functions. Installed after the effluent from the secondary sedimentation tank, it can be perfectly combined with other treatment units, and has multiple functions such as denitrification, phosphorus removal, and removal of suspended solids.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

The denitrification deep bed filter uses 2-3 mm quartz sand as the biofilm medium for denitrifying organisms, and the filter can ensure that the effluent SS is below 5 mg/L. The specific surface area of the 2-3 mm medium is large. During the backwashing cycle, each m2 of the filtration area can ensure the interception of ≥7.3 kg of suspended solids. The high solid load greatly extends the filter cycle and reduces the number of backwashing. The denitrification filter uses air and water for backwashing. The backwashing wastewater is generally returned to the previous biological treatment unit. Due to the high-load interception performance of the filter bed solids, the backwashing water does not exceed 4% of the water volume of the treatment plant.

Using an appropriate amount of high-quality carbon source, the denitrifying bacteria attached to and growing on the surface of the quartz sand convert NOx-N into N2 to complete the denitrification reaction process. During the denitrification process, as nitrate nitrogen is continuously reduced to nitrogen, a large amount of nitrogen will accumulate in the deep bed filter. These gases will cause the sewage to flow around the media, thus enhancing the contact between microorganisms and water flow, and also improving the filtration efficiency. However, when too many nitrogen bubbles accumulate in the pool, it will cause head loss. At this time, the nitrogen must be dispersed to restore the head, which should be done several times a day.
